Rendr - How is the beta going and where to now?
I have been posting since I got my rendr disc with logs and info on how it has been playing. I am aware that it is a beta and obviously there is going to be issues with the software and various blu-ray players. I have had issues with probably 95% of my various video files as they DO NOT play or crash using rendr. Again to be expected because of the beta software.
I am used to streaming my video files with my HTPC. It uses windows media centre and I would say 99% of my video files DO play flawlessly. It is a bit of overkill to have such a computer stream video and audio files and that's all it does.
So my wife being tech savvy has ordered me an ASUS O!Play for christmas. It costs $119 Australian dollars. It has wired ethernet and you can connect via USB external hard drive as well. It will handle MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC and AIFF files and it'll display JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF files. Video formats supported include MPEG-1/2/4, RM/RMVB, VC-1 and H.264 with file extensions of .mp4, .mov, .xvid, .avi, .divx, .asf, .wmv, .mkv, .rm, .rmvb, .flv, .ts, .m2ts, .dat, .mpg or .vob. Has HDMI for 1080p resolution dependant on the file.
I will still try and use rendr, but I suppose by christmas day that could be a different story. I will keep in touch with the forum to see if issues are resolved.
Thanks
Rick

Rick,
You are right that we have had problem playing videos. Some of these problems were also avoidable had we used a different testing procedure.
But we will have flawless playing of "all" videos of SD format and 1280x720 HD format very soon. (Some video formats may require us to update PS3 Media Server - Rendr Edition - we appreciate your pointing out if a format is not working.) We are also working with Blu-ray player vendors to improve download speed so that 1920x1080 videos would also play flawlessly.
We appreciate your patience and your help in pointing out these issues.
